Much Vintage Racing This Weekend

This week can't go by fast enough! I'm headed back to Ye Olde Mid-Ohio for this year's Vintage Grand Prix sponsored by Porsche. Good times will be had. Many epic vintage race cars will be seen, heard, smelled and experienced. Yep, even smelled. I still remember my first live race. One of the most potent parts of the experience were the smells of fuel, tires and general mechanical awesomeness. That combined with the sound of the cars blowing by is just... man... something you cannot replicate and just have to experience firsthand. But I digress.

On the Equipment Front

Along with jumping over to the dark side by switching my primary equipment to the Fuji mirrorless team with a X-T1 (LOVE by the way), I snagged a Think Tank Retrospective 5 in Pinestone. I tried finding a cheaper bag solution but I just couldn't argue with so many owners raving over it's utility, durability and portability, specifically for mirrorless kit. And since receiving mine, I agree whole-heartedly with said ravers. The bag looks and feels great, is very solid and durable and has utility and storage widgets in all the right places and in just the right size to keep things relatively minimal and light.

I've also rented the Fujinon XF 50-140mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR Lens from BorrowLenses for the weekend. Can't recommend BorrowLenses enough for temporary equipment needs. If I'm happy with the 50-140's performance, I'll snag my own as soon as I can. And I'm pretty sure I won't be disappointed based on others' review of the lens.

In the meantime, check out my gallery of last year's Vintage GP below!
